Speakers:

Professor Xiaodong Chen, Electronic Engineering

Xiaodong Chen, PhD, SMIEEE, MIET , is a Professor of Microwave Engineering and Director of Graduate Studies in Department of Electronic Engineering. He is also the Director of the BUPT-QMUL Joint Research Lab in Beijing . He holds Visiting Professorships at the University of Westminster (UK), Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

His research interests are in microwave devices, antennas, wireless communications and bio-electromagnetics. He has authored and co-authored over 200 publications (book chapters, journal papers and refereed conference presentations). He has involved in the organisation of many international conferences. He is currently a member of UK EPSRC Review College and Technical Panel of IEE Antennas and Propagation Professional Network

Professor Deborah Ashby, Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine

The Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine comprises three Centres. There is an active group of statisticians and a statistical advisory service headed by Professor Deborah Ashby.

The aim of the Institute is to be a centre of excellence in epidemiology and preventive medicine and to advance the discipline in all its aspects. The focus is on academic discipline, research, the translation of research into public health strategies and their practical implementation - all dedicated to the reduction of disease and disability.
