Speakers:

Dr Natalia Karpukhina, Lecturer in Dental Physical Sciences, Institute of Dentistry Structural characterisation of bioglasses”

We have a long history of innovation in dental education and research. The Dental School of The London Hospital Medical College was formed in 1911 and moved into the current Dental Institute in 1965. The Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry was formed in 1995 and merged with Queen Mary, University of London in the same year.

Professor Edward Randall, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry, Biological and Chemical Sciences.

Research interests

Applications of multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and imaging in solution and solid state samples at high field (14.1 T). The spectroscopy utilizes two frequency dimensions as well as MAS/CP techniques. Stray-field Imaging is used for solids and porous media: polymers, ceramics, dental cements and soils, and ingressing liquids. Soils include rice paddy field and dark earth soils from archaeological sites in the Amazon basin. New work is on soil microbial turnover rate of C and P, and sustainability.
